We invite you to be part of a 5 night long program of multi-disciplined arts in our festival discussing the reality of art as a luxury good. From outsider art to conceptual art and so on, all creative practices have a value invested in them that often vastly exceeds the artwork's actual material value. This psychosis is what makes the process or end result something we might call art. But how far can we consider art as a‘psychosis’? Is there psychosis from artists and as people in the creative process of making work? Does art create psychosis? Is it necessary in art-making? Is artistic expression psychotic?
We would like you to consider how your practice is affected by the psychosis that the items you create are considered luxury goods.

All submissions should be accompanied with a 50 word text, and supporting image, explaining the psychosis of art in whatever terms the artist wants. This could include the financial, emotional, physical, psychiatric, even spiritual psychosis of producing a work of art. We only ask that the text be exactly 50 words, not 49, not 51, but 50 on the nose! Why? There is a correlation between affordablilty of art (its purchase, or its creation) and the sensation of constraint. Thus we ask our artists to explore this notion by constraining not their artwork to a budget, but their text to an exact word count. The text is to be exhibited alongside the work, and with image on the Luxury Goods London website, and released under a creative commons licence. You are welcome to submit artworks in any form you like: physical object, installation, film, music, performance.... We are interested in the practicalities of the work.

Please include your name, mobile number, exhibiting/performing name if different, title of work/performance/video/?, medium of work, short (5 words +/-) description of work for the programme if time-based or performance, size/duration/technical requirements of work, website, and sale price (if applicable)

Please email submissions to luxury@abstractfaces.com before Sept 17th 2016. Enquires are also welcome.

We aim to accept all complete submissions.
Limited rehearsal time is available on request.

We accept no responsibility for loss or damage during or after the festival.

We want to make this festival bigger, and better than ever- so please get in touch if you would like to help/express yourself in anyway - curating an art form, organising symposium, assembling a show-reel, running a stand, PR, -we are open to anything, and everything! Poetry, spoken word, dance, music .
